Their twilight campaign is easy to explain.

Recently I've been watching a few episodes of Pinky and the Brain. I decided to try my hand at drawing them.

I added the lyrics of their theme song to the background afterwards. Keegan has officially dibsed this as his birthday present.

Origami

I was at dinner one evening with some friends and I had made an origami flapping crane (classic.) Everyone was amazed and asked me to create more. Unfortunately, I don't know a lot of origami off by heart so I was only able to create a few more pieces. After this, I decided to learn some more interesting origami.

To the left is a box made of 8 pieces of paper. When pulled the right way, it turns into a rose! (See below).

In April, I went to Victoria and brought some origami supplies for fun. Geoff said he wanted a t-rex so I went on YouTube and created this! A purple t-rex. :)

Art Noms

Recently I've felt inspired to create food. I'm by no means a great cook but every now and again, as with art, I feel inspired to create. Below are two of the sandwich-type foods I created. I have also done a couple salads and pizzas but haven't been able to find the pictures...
Tuna Melts
Portabella Mushroom Burgers

This is another special thing that I made. For Geoff's 21 birthday I decided to make him a home-made ice cream cake. I tried to dye gummy bears purple but it's insanely difficult to do! Anyway, this was the result. We went to Banff though so I froze it in an ice block in a cooler. Unfortunately when it got to Banff, it was pretty melted. Ah well.

Sketchy Sketches

Here are some sketches I did based on a book called "Animal Art". It basically teaches you how to draw. :p

Happy Birthday Geoffrey!

For Geoff's birthday in March I decided to draw him a picture of the MK2 Golf that he's rebuilding. Here's the end result! I put it in a picture frame and cut it down a bit so that it looked a little different than just a picture in a frame which I think turned out pretty well. I also attempted to raise the white picture about 3 mm above the black paper by using foam underneath. It's not as drastic as I had hoped.

Gobble Gobble. Oh wait...

So I got this idea to draw a peacock and have it be like a very solid black outline and try to get the colours of the feathers to stand out. Unfortunately most of my peacocks started looking like turkeys so I had to change the shape a little bit and I still can't really figure out how to make the colours the focal point of the picture. Ah well. Here are a couple that I liked though!

Current Project

This next project that I have going might take a while to complete but I thought I'd put it up to show progress! Could be neat. So I'm working on a paint by number of an owl. Here's a picture of the blank canvas with only numbers.

I have no idea why they're always sideways. Sorry!

UPDATE:
After working on it the first day:

Old Art, New Post

Hey everyone!

Just to keep things fresh, I've decided to showcase an older piece of art that I'm pretty proud of. It's a plate I made at Clayworks on Whyte Ave. I haven't been in a while but I should probably go again. :)

Keegan's Koala...er...Panda. :)

So I will admit that this was done in 2010, but I really wanted to add it to this blog anyway. Every once in a while I get really inspired to do something artistic and on this particular day, I was chatting with Keegan and he sent me this picture of a panda to copy.

I'm really sorry...for some reason I can't rotate it...so it's going to have to be like this for now.

RAWR

So I randomly bought some water colour pencil crayons while at Staples in December and thought that I should try em out! They're pretty sweet actually. The result was this sweeeeet dinosaur!

Sharpie Tattoos

I thought it might be fun to try to make a sharpie tattoo after my friend from work was telling me about drawing on people with markers. Ha!

This first symbol means horse.

This chinese symbol apparently means "laugh; smile".

Before the silver was added.
After the silver.
Close Up

Welcome!

Hello everyone!

I would just like to start off by saying hi and welcoming you to my blog! My plan for 2011 is to be a bit more artistic and try to find the art in everything and in myself. I can't promise that it will be spectacular, but it will be an attempt. I may also occasionally post small achievements that aren't necessarily artistic. Could be good times!

Thanks for joining me on my crazy artistic journey of 2011!
